The top of the table is a slab of rock, I am sitting at the table writing. All the furniture at this lodge is made by the owners, using branches and pieces of wood. The Rustic lodge, is a family run B&B, located in Santa Elena.
Jose is the family member that speaks good English and spent time showing us the grounds around his property. With all the benefits of modern communications, the trip to Monteverde feels complete after staying at this place, with a comfortable bed, cleanliness and delicious home cooked breakfast. We were offered tea and fresh cheese the night we got in.
The hummingbirds in the courtyard, Jose knew their song and as he whistled we soon saw the birds sweeping towards the feeder.
Last night dinner at the Don Juan restaurant, was well worth the price...........fresh cheese from the Monteverde cheese factory, and plantain and mango soup with a dash of cumin.....mmmmm
